Leonid Strakhov, CEO, SPORTMASTER
Leonid Strakhov graduated from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology. He continued his education at the Zhukovsky Air Force Engineering Academy, where he obtained a Doctorate of Science in Physics. From 1986 to 1996, he served in the Armed Forces and was awarded with several medals. His military training honed his analytical skills and made him an astute problem solver with strong focus on results.
He joined the SPORTMASTER Group from its initial years in 1996 as their Retail Sales Director and, in 2003, became CEO of SPORTMASTER Group. As Group CEO, he drove the aggressive expansion of SPORTMASTER and its international development. Today, SPORTMASTER is a market leader in Russia and CIS. It is among the top three European and top ten global sport and outdoor retailers, with more than 450 stores globally.
Strakhov also spearheaded the launch of O'STIN, a casual wear line, which today boasts more than 730 stores. O'STIN is a leader in the casual wear market in Russia and CIS.
