Rustam Minnikhanov, President, Republic of Tatarstan

Rustam Minnikhanov graduated from Kazan Agricultural Institute in 1978 as a mechanical engineer. He then graduated from Correspondence Institute of Soviet Trade (Moscow) as a commodity expert in 1986. From 1983 to 1996, he held senior positions in the administrations of the districts of the Republic of Tatarstan. From 1996 to 1998, he was the Minister of Finance for the Republic of Tatarstan. In 1998, Minnikhanov was appointed Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan. He was then appointed President of the Republic of Tatarstan on 25 March 2010. He is also Chairman of the Board of the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia.
