Marcus Cooper, General Director, Rosneft Trading
Marcus Cooper joined Rosneft in 2013 as General Director of Rosneft Trading based in Geneva, Switzerland. He is responsible for the development of Rosneft's international oil & gas trading. He has over 20 years of experience trading around the Russian oil & gas markets and has held senior leadership positions in both Russia and in Singapore.
Marcus graduated with a Master's degree in Energy Policy & Environmental Technology from Imperial College London where he specialised in Russian gas & European energy policy. Upon graduation, he joined BP's graduate development program specialising in Russian crude & product trading, leading the Russian desk for BP between 2000 and 2003. He joined TNK-BP in Moscow in 2003 as Director for crude & product trading and led the development of TNK-BP's supply optimisation capability as VP for Supply between 2006 and 2008. In 2008, he re-joined BP as head of BP's worldwide gasoline trading, based in Chicago, the US. He subsequently moved to Singapore for three years to lead BP's worldwide fuel oil trading business & marine business, the largest suppliers of bunker fuel to the Singapore market for the past 10 years.
