Lee Yi Shyan, Senior Minister of State for Trade & Industry and National Development, Republic of Singapore
Lee Yi Shyan graduated from the National University of Singapore in Chemical Engineering in 1986. In 1997, he completed an executive management programme at the Harvard Business School and a management programme at Tsinghua University in 2001.
Lee began his career at the Economic Development Board. He was based in Washington DC and Chicago from 1993 to 1997 and Suzhou, China from 1997 to 1998. He was appointed Deputy CEO of the Singapore Productivity and Standards Board in 2000. In 2001, Lee was appointed CEO of International Enterprise (IE) Singapore.
After the May 2006 elections, Lee served as Minister of State for Trade & Industry. Lee was re-elected in the May 2011 General Elections. In August 2012, he was promoted to Senior Minister of State for Trade & Industry and National Development.
As Senior Minister of State for Trade & Industry, Lee actively promotes economic exchanges and international trade and investments with China, the Middle East and Russia. For the National Development portfolio, he oversees urban planning, city development and town council issues.
