Igor Ivanovich Shuvalov, First Deputy Prime Minister, Russian Federation

Igor Ivanovich Shuvalov was appointed the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation in 2008. His responsibilities include developing key targets for Russia's socio-economic development and pursuing a coherent fiscal, credit and monetary policy, as well as managing Russia's sovereign debt and financial assets.

He graduated from the Law Department of Moscow Lomonosov State University with a degree in Jurisprudence. He started his career in the Law Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1993 to 1995, he was senior legal consultant for AOZT ALM Consulting and later became the Director of the ALM Bureau of Attorneys. From 1997 to 2000, he took on various portfolios in the Ministry for State Property and was the Chairman of the Russian Federal Property Fund. From 2000 to 2003, he was the Head of the Administrative Office of the Government of the Russian Federation. He was later appointed Aide to the President of the Russian Federation and was Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office. Since 2005, Mr Shuvalov has been the Russian Sherpa in the G8.
